October is HEAR!
It is National Audiologist Awareness Month and National Protect Your Hearing Month! Follow this blog all month for information on the field of audiology as well as how YOU can prevent hearing loss.
Day 1 is all about the profession of audiology!
Au-di-ol-o-gist: a primary health-care professional who evaluates, diagnoses, treats and manages hearing loss and balance disorders in adults and children.
Audiology used to only require a master’s level degree but now, no masters academic programs exist for audiology. They have been replace with AuD programs (Doctorate of Audiology). Beginning in 2007, the AuD has become the entry-level degree for the clinical practice of audiology. The first AuD program opened at Baylor University in January of 1994.
